Windows Vista Beta 2 Release

May 27, 2006

Microsoft this past week released beta 2 of Windows Vista their next generation operating system, but only to developers and those who attended their recent WinHEC (Windows Hardware Engineering Conference).  Microsoft plans to release a Community Preview Program version to "technology enthusiasts that want to install and test" it in the coming weeks, but didn't specify when.  Originally the release date was supposed to be today, May 27th.  As soon as I have more details on this release, I will post the info here.

New User Interface for Office 2007

May 25, 2006

Yesterday, I mentioned that there is a new look to Office 2007.  Microsoft has redesigned Office 2007 with a totally new User Interface.  To see a demo of what this interface looks like, click here.  I find this new user interface to be easier to use.  It does take some time getting used to it, but I believe in the long run, you'll like it much better.  I find the new right click menus and the hover menu when you highlight to be super!

2007 Microsoft Office System Beta 2 Released!

May 24, 2006

Yesterday, Microsoft released beta 2 of their new Office Suite called 2007 Office System to those who signed up for it and have a Windows Live ID.  I downloaded it and installed it on my computer and I must say, I'm amazed by the new look and new features.  Despite delays in shipping the beta and the changing of the release date to 2007, I think they have a winner with this product.  The only downside, I see to this office suite is the pricing.  Over the next few days, I'll be playing around with this product and will post more details at a later date.  If you get a chance to get your hands on this beta product, I believe you'll find it is worth the effort.  For more info, Click Here.

Protecting Your PC Part 2

May 16, 2006

Spyware and other unwanted software refers to software that performs certain tasks on your computer, typically without your consent. This may include giving you advertising or collecting personal information about you. It can be bundled with other software that you download or can come via an email attachment, etc. In this second part of my series on "Protecting Your PC," I am adding a link to watch a video from Microsoft on Protecting Against Spyware.
